ISLE OF WIGHT COAST PATH

THE WALK STAGE BY STAGE

HOME       RYDE - SANDOWN

For those of you who do not know the Isle of Wight - it is a small island (23 miles long by 13 miles wide) off the south coast of the United Kingdom. This is my personal journey of walking the coast path. I enjoyed it so much that I am going to tell you all about it here and now. Maybe you will be tempted to give it a try. Let me know if you do. The walk is about 65 to 70 miles in length, is relatively easy going with only a few really testing climbs. The scenery is super; from small bustling towns, to quiet estuaries, sweeping cliffs, shadowy woodland dells and thriving yachting ports.

The walk can be started at a number of points: see Hints and Tips. I travelled from London's Waterloo station to Portsmouth harbour, caught Wightlink's catamaran service to Ryde. Walking clockwise, five days later I arrived back at Ryde. This is the story of the in between bits. No it's the walk I'm talking about. Click on links below for details of each stage of the walk.
